Space Synthetic Biology - SciSpacE

Space Synthetic Biology

Synthetic biology is the design and construction of new biological parts, devices, and systems, and the re-design of existing, natural biological systems for useful purposes (Nature.com). Synthetic Biology has the potential to significantly improve the safety, stability, and feasibility of missions in space, mainly in deep space.

The 2 main goals of this Topical Team are to find ways of overcoming the principal bottlenecks of deep space exploration by recommending the development of new biological devices that identify countermeasures to protect and support life of humans during the way and to find resources for space colonization.
