Gateway will be a free flying and human tended station in the vicinity of the Moon. This platform is in development through a partnership between ESA, NASA, the Japanese Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA), and the Canadian Space Agency (CSA). Gateway will be assembled during this decade.
Gateway provides a staging post for human missions to the Moon and a location in deep space to perform scientific research and to learn how to live and work in space away from Earth, preparing for future missions to Mars and beyond.
